Turning the Page: The Next Chapter at Urban Sales
Nearly a decade ago, I had just moved into a tiny rental apartment, and I was trying to create something that didn’t exist yet - a home that felt like me. Warm. Creative. Comfortable. A space that brought me joy. But I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I found local options were either budget-friendly but lacked durability - or beautifully made but out of reach.


So I began sourcing pieces from overseas. Design-forward, practical, accessible products that made small spaces feel inspired and inspiring.
At the time, IKEA wasn’t available in New Zealand - and for the stage I was at in my life , their products filled the gap.
That’s how it all began at Urban Sales: not with a big vision, but a personal mission - to make better living possible where stylish, well-made furniture was often hard to find or afford.
So, in the beginning, we focused on furniture and furnishings for urban dwellers, like myself, and that’s where the name ‘Urban Sales’ came from.
How We Got Here - And Why This Moment Matters
We became known as New Zealand’s best place to shop IKEA. And yes, we did it better than others. Not because we were trying to - but because we cared. We cared about our customers. About every order, every delivery, every space we helped shape.


In time, we started exploring beyond IKEA.
We travelled to trade shows around the world, discovered emerging designers, and connected with innovative brands from Denmark, Australia, China, and beyond.
We curated products that weren’t just functional - they helped us and our customers tell stories, make statements, and bring new meaning into our homes.

Like many of us, I’ve gone from making do in smaller spaces to creating a place that truly feels like home. And with that shift comes new expectations - and new desires. Back then, IKEA made sense for us. It was practical, accessible, and did the job. But now, we want and need something more.
